Soul Selection 2 - 1st Draft

It's been a real roller coaster these past few months writing the first draft of Soul Selection 2. I knew who I wanted to feature prominently in this 2nd installment, and it has taken me in different directions that I surprisingly love. There were pitfalls, where I felt the direction of the story wasn't strong enough. There were moments where I thought the new character was bland, or that the character didn't really carry the story forward. And the plot was great at the start, but it fell apart as I wrote more chapters. I had to cut out big chunks of some of the things I wrote, but not as much as I did for SS1.
Despite the negatives, there are so many exciting moments, including one scene that made me tear up without knowing why. But it just hit me for some reason. I can't wait to share that.
Getting to this stage, I'm really thankful for being able to write this second book. It is my first time writing a sequel for a series, and there are some things I've learned and things that I appreciate more. One thing I've learned is not to use Atticus for drafts. It's good for publishing, but not for drafts. Atticus' backups and system restores are very hard to use, and the UI is not as friendly despite not having many features. I've gone back to using word-processing software like WPS.

What's happening next?

My writing process will involve a lot of revisions and edits on my part. I will tighten up loose plots, polish characters, and revise chapters. This will probably take a few weeks to a month. After that, I'll hire a beta reader to go through everything. I'll do another rewrite, then it's off to the editors.

The Next Bone Prince - 2nd Edition

I am thankful for everyone who has purchased the first edition. Because of that, I've received a lot of feedback on errors in the book—mostly copyediting issues and typos. As a reminder, I rushed into publishing this book for the Amazon Lit competition, but then I lost, thinking they were judging books by the story itself. Then, I found out it's more of a popularity contest, which at this point, as a new author, I am unable to compete in.
When the editors are reviewing SS2, I'll go back and correct NBP, and will most likely also hire an editor to proofread it. Please look out for the 2nd edition soon.
